George Floyd

Little did Abraham Lincoln know when the Civil War started in 1861 that he was only beginning to loosen the screw that held injustice in place. One hundred and fifty-nine years later, people are still trying to loosen and remove the same screw and bring justice and peace to people of color. I believe it is a complex task – to educate and influence those who hold positions of power and those in the majority – to see things as they really are. Racism hurts us all, but it limits and demoralizes those to whom it is directed. In 1647, Baltasar Gracian said “The sole advantage of power is the ability to do more good.” We have an enemy, and it is not each other. Our enemy loves division and pain; in fact, he cooks it up daily. Use your power to stand for God and stand for each other.
