“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”. 1 Peter 5:7
Are you feeling stressed or overwhelmed? If you are, then you are in the majority – the majority of Americans that are feeling tension in their lives. According to the American Psychological Association, well over half of our population experiences stress on a daily basis.
Stress is a common emotion that has the capability to wear us down and make us irritable. Our lives are not meant to be characterized by this constant nagging pressure of feeling overwhelmed and a little out of control.
The opposite of stress is peace. Peace is a gift from God when we choose to trust Him with our circumstances. Embracing God’s plan for our life and His timing can help slow us down and not feel the weight of looming deadlines and expectations. The best place to fill up on peace is in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Spending time in God’s Word, worshipping Him, praying and praising are all ways that help us to get our minds off of ourselves and onto the one who is in control. When we acknowledge God’s rightful place on the throne, submission to His will for our lives is a natural result.
There are many individuals in the Bible who probably felt a lot of stress. David as he was running from those trying to take his life, Mary when she had to tell Joseph she was expecting, Abraham when he was sent to an unknown land, Martha when her sister wouldn’t help her around the house, the disciples after Jesus was crucified, and Paul when he went from a persecutor of the church to an outspoken advocate.
Life gets hard and when it does, we have a Father in heaven to which we can cast our cares! Jesus loves you!
Question: What cares do you need to release to God?
